Ideas For Inexpensive Centerpieces

A centerpiece mirror adds a magical element to your cheap centerpiece and they don't have to be expensive, mirror tiles work just as well for your centerpiece as a purpose made mirror would.

A mirror is a great option as a placemat for floral and candle arrangements. Putting lighted votive candles on a centerpiece mirror makes the mirror a source of reflective light cast on the reception tables. Even the simplest or most boring centerpiece would look amazingly unique and beautiful when set on a centerpiece mirror.

There are different shapes of mirrors that you can buy online. The important aspect in choosing a mirror for your centerpiece is to make sure that the size and shape of the mirror is proportional with the centerpiece arrangement. Although you can quite often save yourself some money by buying mirror tiles, or if you are going for a retro centerpiece then why not use a vintage mirror instead. There are normally lots of mirrors available in thrift stores if you are ready for a rummage.

Flowers and Votive Candles

You need a tall clear cylinder glass for a vase. You can also choose a square vase but make sure the design is symmetrical. Fill the vase with flowers, remember though that pastel colors are for more formal occasions while bright and loud colors are quite fun and informal.

Choose 12 inches to 14 inches diameter mirror. Stack the centerpiece mirror on a matching foam board. Make sure that the mirror and foam are perfectly-cut and sized. Put them together to make a platform. Cover the edges of the platform with a ribbon the same thickness as the platform. You can secure the 1-inch ribbon on the platform by sticking some pins on. If you want a more noticeable ribbon, there are lots of ribbons available online too.

Arrange the flowers on a clear glass vase. Make sure that the carnations are of one size before putting them in the vase. Arrange the flowers in the vase making sure that the stems are even. You can arrange the flowers Ikebana style (Japanese art of flower arranging) or a small sphere. There is no need to add foliage but if you are compelled to do so, why not? Put the simple floral arrangement on the mirror centerpiece then add about 8 votive candles, light them up and be amazed at this sophisticated arrangement.

Tall and Slender Candles

The mirror in your centerpiece will reflect anything that sparkles and you can have a traditional candelabra with tall taper candles. If you wanted to add more decoration scatter the mirror with petals or confetti. If yours is a fun and informal party you could add multi-colored ribbons and streamers across the mirror. Quite often the traditional candelabras are available from your venue of if you are holding the party at your home then ask relatives if you can borrow their candleabras if you don't have your own.

Floating Candles

Floating candles work really well when you place them on a mirror surface, use a wide bowl and add flowers or just floating candles. Match the colors to your party theme.

Mirrors come in all sorts of sizes, you can even get mirrors that are the same size as the table which you can hire from event companies - but these won't be cheap. As always if you are looking to buy a centerpiece mirror then check online and compare prices. Quite often brides will try and sell their centerpiece mirrors after their wedding - check Craigslist and Ebay for a bargain. Also thrift stores and diy stores as well.
