Gourds and pumpkins arranged in a basket or on a platter bring some great colors to the table and you can arrange them around the house to have splashes of color. For a modern take to this theme have the gourds arranged in a line down the middle of the table and then have candles dotted between them for an evening centerpiece.

You could also hollow out a pumpkin, this is really easy with one of those cheap pumpkin carving kits that you can buy from most stores at this time of year. When you have hollowed out the pumpkin you are going to use it as a vase - not as a Jack O'Lantern - and fill it with dried flowers or wheat.

Stunning and simple thanksgiving centerpieces with modern glass vases are easy to put together. All you will need is a glass vase either cylinder or rectangle, fill the vase with cranberries as they seem to last longer than other soft fruit and water, then place a floating candle on the top. Try and find a floating candle that is the same size as the diameter of the vase otherwise the candle ends up floating to the side. To make the centerpiece more stunning you may want to have a few of the vases of different heights arranged together.
