Fruit centerpieces are very colorful and are perfect for any party, they also look great mixed with vegetables, candles and flower centerpieces.
Opting for fruit in your centerpieces for your party or reception is a truly unique yet inexpensive way of departing from the traditional flower arrangement table centerpiece. Fruit can be used to enhance any dinner table, formal or informal. There is no need to spend a large sum of money and spend endless hours trying to put up a great looking centerpiece. Simple centerpieces could very well be the answer in your quest for beautiful, easy-to-do and inexpensive table centerpieces.A very simple and easy centerpiece is a fruit basket. There are varied wicker baskets of all shapes and sizes available in most flower shops. Do not buy the expensive ones. If you can't source wicker baskets, you can opt for a deep plastic bowl instead. Line the basket with foil then floral foam that has been soaked in water. Line the basket with Spanish moss making sure that the floral foam is quite covered. Insert ferns into the floral form making sure they sort of drape over the sides of the basket or bowl. Choose flowers such as kale, aster, gerbera and chrysanthemums and arrange them accordingly in the basket. Choose some real firm persimmons and oranges and insert sturdy floral sticks into them. Add the fruits into the floral arrangement for the final touch. The beautiful floral and fruit arrangement will surely impress guests. They could even eat the fruits for desserts! Another easy way to make fruit centerpieces is by simply arranging different fruits on a platter. Get a rectangular tray and line it up with swags of pine or branches and leaves from your own garden. Make sure the tray is completely covered. Get some oranges, apples, grapes, peaches, pears and kiwi and arrange them in the platter. Take care that you arrange them in such a way that you some room for 3 whole apples at the center. Take three apples and core them. Fit tapered candles into the core and set the three apples in the center of the fruit tray. Light the candles and you have a perfect fruit centerpiece with lighted candles. Note that you should wash the fruits and dry them with clean towels or paper napkins before arranging them. Use tall rectangular clear vases for a modern centerpiece. Slice some oranges and green lime. Cut into squares melon and papaya. Take care as to cut them into almost same size. Arrange the cut fruits into the rectangular vase. Layer the melon and papaya into the vase inserting lemons and limes here and there. Fill the vase up to the brim and top with a couple of calla lilies. A variation is to use 2 to 3 different height clear vases and group them together as one fruit centerpiece. Another variation is to use a shallow glass container and arrange sliced oranges and kiwis around the perimeter. Add other fruits to make a small pile at the center for the flowers. A very simple but elegant edible centerpiece is with the use of votive candles. Use a shallow (4 inches depth) clear container and fill it 3/4 way with water. Slice lemons and oranges and float them in the container. Add 2 to 3 floating candles. Set the glass container on the table. Before you do, make a bed of sprigs and leaves to set down the glass container. Add some whole oranges, limes, grapes and yellow tomatoes on the bed of sprigs and leaves for accent. There fruit centerpieces will bode well for any occasion. You should have options though when selecting fruits as some might be off season.
