Thanksgiving Table Decoration Ideas
Ideas For Inexpensive Centerpieces

There are so many wonderful and inexpensive ideas for a Thanksgiving table decoration, most are based on fruit and vegetables that the recent harvest has brought in. (or in most cases the most recent trip to the store!)

For a centerpiece, make a platter of fresh lemons and artichokes. Get a nice platter and line it with fresh ferns or other greenery making sure the leaves fall over the edge of the platter. Arrange artichokes on the fern base making sure they point out. Add some lemons and here and there and top with more artichokes. Observe if you need to add more sprigs of fern. Cut some 12 to 18 pieces of yellow mums or gerberas to not more than 3 inch-long stems. Add the flowers between the lemons and artichoke and you are done. This simple yet elegant centerpiece could be complemented with votive candles set on small glasses wrapped in leaves then tied with a festive wired ribbon.

Another simple and elegant Thanksgiving table decoration is a centerpiece with pillar candles. Buy an odd number of different height pillar candles in autumn colors – orange, gold, ochre – and set them on a tray or platter. Buy some fresh or artificial flowers and tuck them in between the candles. Tuck some twigs of interesting shapes and varied lengths too. For a more defined centerpiece, add some branches of berries to make the centerpiece look more cheerful.

Get a two-tier wire basket. The idea is to fill up and decorate the baskets with fruits such as lemons, kumquats and lime. Fill the wire basket with fruits bunching the kumquats together for more emphasis. Add lemons and limes with some cut in halves. Add some citrus leaves here and there to balance the fruit baskets. When you are content with the fruit baskets, run some stephanotis or Madagascar jasmine from the first level basket up to the second tier. Make the arrangement artistic as you tuck the small white and sweet smelling flowers in between fruits and along the length of the basket stand. To complete the Thanksgiving table decoration, line the center of the table with votive candles.

Thanksgiving dinners are tiring, for the cook. Since the cook is the person who is probably running the whole show doing a centerpiece might be just too much. An easy and no-fuzz centerpiece is a bouquet of red, orange and yellow flowers bunched together and tied with a string. Cut the stems into even lengths and put the bouquet in a clear tall vase. Fill the vase with cherry tomatoes to hold the bouquet up. Put in some water on the vase. A twist would be to use green grapes in lieu of the cherry tomatoes. Complete the table setting with tapered candles in holders and you have a very colorful and up to par Thanksgiving table decoration.

There is no wrong or right Thanksgiving centerpiece. Before the event comes, experiment on various ideas for your Thanksgiving centerpiece. Think out of the box and you would be surprised by the many possibilities for a unique, simple yet elegant Thanksgiving table decoration.
