Inexpensive Valentine Centerpieces
And Table Decorations
Valentine centerpieces are all about romance and that means candles! You just couldn't celebrate Valentine's Day without them and the color red, plus a card and lots of love! The great thing is that romance and candles do not need to be expensive, Valentine's day is all about the little touches and most of these ideas are homemade.
Valentines Centerpieces Just For The Two Of You
This year, 2012 is a leap year and that means one thing when it comes to Valentine's Day! The girls can propose to the boys! How exciting, but also a bit nerve wracking, so you will want your romantic table to be just right.
To start with you will want everything to be perfect; polished glasses and cutlery and an ironed tablecover is the basic minimum. See if you can find a red table runner or red napkins to add a splash of color.
Next it is the candles and here anything goes as long as it fits onto your table. Any candle holders you have will add the magic sparkle. Remember to turn down the lights!
Inexpensive ways to add red roses to your table are a single red rose in a bud vase, or red rose petals scattered on the table, or a single red rose at their place setting. Remember that red roses cost a fortune in Valentine's week, so use them sparingly.
Other ideas would be a big bowl of strawberries and I Love You written on a big red heart.
A romantic touch to the table would be a little love note at their table setting, or a mini gift - maybe a ring?!
Valentines Centerpieces For A Dinner Party
Centerpieces for a Valentines dinner party are more fun than romantic.
Keep with the color red; a table runner, tablecover, red candles or red napkins will be a good start.
If you want to have flowers have a look at red carnations or tulips as they are a lot less expensive than roses at this time of year. Carnations have started to lose their old fashioned and out of date image, which is great as they are fairly cheap in comparison to roses. Bunch the caarnations tightly in a short vase for a contemporary look or make a pomander using ball shaped florist foam and lots of red carnations placed into the ball. You can display these by making a tree out of one, push a cane into the base of the foam and secure the cane in a pot. Or you could balance them onto the tope of an opaque vase for a more over the top centerpiece.
A modern twist on the Valentines theme could be red apples lined up down the middle of the table with tea lights between the apples. Think of the apples as the original sin and Adam and Eve!
If you have any cherub decorations left over from Christmas you could have fun adding those to each place setting!
Have little gifts or fun Mr & Mrs style questions at each place setting to get your dinner party started.
Valentine Centerpieces For A Big Party
If you are putting together a big Valentines Ball or party you will need a lot of centerpieces. If your venue allows it candles do add that sparkle.
You could name each table after a famous romantic hero or heroine and have the name on a big red heart at each table.
There are also lots of Valentine centerpieces that you can buy online, here are some that are good value and some that you could store for next years party.
