The colors of Valentine's Day are reds and pinks and using these colors works really well. Hire red linen table cloths and scatter the table with red rose petals and have a candelabra or tea lights and you have a simple and effective table decoration.
Flowers go hand in hand with Valentine's day but the are expensive at this time of year especially red roses, however adding a single red rose or red carnation (they are much cheaper) looks great and won't cost as much as a dozen red roses at each table. Petals are a much cheaper way to have the red rose theme at your tables, ask local florists for any they have left over!If you are planning on running a Valentine's special event every year it could be worth buying good silk red roses, at a distance no one will know and you then have them to use every year.
As well as flowers, candy has a special place as Valentine table decorations, you could scatter heart shaped candy and chocolates on the table or place them into a glass vase. Use lots of different height vases and jars to give a more interesting look to your table. A single heart shaped chocolate at each place setting also looks great. Hearts are everywhere on Valentines table decorations, use the heart suit from a pack of cards to make your centerpiece or cut up lots and lots of hearts to scatter all over the table. Check out Valentine's cards to use as part of your centerpiece design, have one beautiful card lying flat on the table surrounded by paper hearts or petals and candy, have tea lights to give an extra sparkle. It wouldn't be Valentines without candlelight! Make sure you have lots of added sparkle with any type of candle, they make anywhere look romantic. Paper lanterns are a very popular way to decorate your tables and can look sophisticated, have a look out for red lanterns and heart shaped paper decorations liek you have at Christmas. You could have them hanging down to the table rather than on the table. For added romance print out romantic quotes and verses and have them at each place setting or wrapped around vases, it could be as simple as "Be My Valentine" to a verse from your favorite love song.
